APPLICATION AND DESCRIPTION

This Profinet Type A range provides copper network cabling for fixed industrial Ethernet routes. Four solid copper cores form a star quad, enclosed by foil and tinned copper braid screens. The indoor construction has a PVC outer sheath; the heavy-duty construction uses PUR over the PVC inner jacket.

KEY FEATURES

  • Solid AWG 22/1 bare copper conductors with PE insulation.

  • White, yellow, blue and orange cores in a screened star-quad assembly.

  • 100 ± 15 ohms impedance at 1–100 MHz; nominal diameter 6.5 mm.

SELECTION NOTES

Select the PVC or PUR construction according to the installation environment. Although both have the same nominal diameter, their laying bend limits differ: 5 times the overall diameter for the indoor PVC version and 10 times for the heavy-duty PUR version. Use the Type B or B+C ranges when the route includes movement.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where is Type A cable used?

On fixed Profinet routes where the cable remains stationary after installation.

How do the two sheath versions differ?

The indoor version has PVC inner and outer jackets. The heavy-duty version combines a PVC inner jacket with a PUR outer sheath.

Are these solid or stranded conductors?

Both constructions use solid bare copper conductors designated AWG 22/1.

What is the cable diameter?

Both versions are 6.5 ± 0.2 mm in overall diameter.

Do both versions have the same laying radius?

No. The indoor PVC version specifies 5 times the overall diameter, while the heavy-duty PUR version specifies 10 times.
